Should Your Roofing Site Spell Out Free Inspections and Estimates for AI Answers?
Free means nothing without specifics
Every roofer offers a free inspection, which means the offer differentiates no one. What differentiates is the scope: does the inspection include the attic, the flashing around penetrations, the gutters and drainage, or is it a drone photo and a guess. Homeowners cannot tell from the word "free," but an AI assistant can tell from a scope list, and it quotes the roofer whose scope it can describe.
The same applies to estimates. "Free estimate" tells the homeowner nothing about format, detail, or timing. "Written line-item estimate within 48 hours of inspection" tells them everything. Specificity is what turns a commodity offer into a cited answer.
List what the inspection actually covers
Write the inspection as a checklist on the page: roof surface condition, flashing at chimneys vents and valleys, attic ventilation and moisture signs, gutter and drainage function, and a photo report the homeowner keeps. This list does double duty: it sells the thoroughness of the inspection and it gives assistants concrete details to quote.
Also state what the inspection does not include. A free inspection is not a repair visit and not an emergency tarping service. Saying so prevents the misunderstanding where a homeowner expects same-day fixes from a free visit, and it keeps the quoted scope accurate when an assistant describes your offer.
Describe the estimate format and timing
The estimate is where homeowners compare roofers, so describe yours precisely. Line items for materials with brand names, labor separated from materials, the project timeline, the warranty terms, and what is excluded. When an assistant is asked "what should a roofing estimate include," the roofer whose site models the answer becomes the example.
Timing matters as much as format. Commit to a delivery window: estimate within 48 hours of the inspection, for example. Speed of estimate is a real decision factor for homeowners with an active leak, and it is a fact an assistant can state plainly: this roofer delivers written estimates in two days.
Put the offer on one dedicated page
The inspection and estimate details belong on a single dedicated page with a direct URL, written in plain text. Then reference the offer from service pages and the homepage with the key specifics repeated, not just the word "free." The dedicated page earns the citation; the references make sure assistants encounter the details wherever the homeowner's question starts.
Review the page when your process changes. If inspection scope expands or estimate timing tightens, update the page the same week. An outdated offer page is a quotable promise you no longer keep.
